Fueling the Future: King Salman Energy Park

We are thrilled to share the latest developments from the heart of Eastern Saudi Arabia – King Salman Energy Park (SPARK). Established as a cutting-edge industrial hub, SPARK is the brainchild of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister, inaugurated in 2018. This world-class facility is set to redefine the landscape of the Saudi energy sector and extend its reach globally.

Transforming Industry and Driving Growth
SPARK aims to be more than just an industrial hub; it is a city designed to foster
innovation and collaboration, connecting businesses with unparalleled
opportunities. The development is part of the Vision 2030 initiative, focusing on
diversifying the Kingdom’s revenue streams and embracing clean energy
technologies.

Sustainable Practices at the Forefront
Setting a new standard for eco-friendly industrial practices, SPARK is proud to
be the first and only industrial city globally to achieve a silver Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. This recognition
underscores our commitment to clean and sustainable energy production,
aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

Strategic Objectives and Subprojects
SPARK aligns with Vision 2030 through three core objectives:

  • Diversify Sources of Revenue: By creating a vibrant ecosystem that
supports various industries, SPARK contributes to expanding the
    Kingdom’s revenue streams.
  • Enhance Security and Cost Efficiency: Critical to the energy supply chains,
SPARK focuses on improving security and reducing costs, ensuring a
    robust and sustainable energy future.
  • Support Energy Transition and Industry Digitalization: Embracing
innovation, SPARK encourages the development of new sectors that
contribute to the global energy transition and digitalization of the industry.
The project is structured into key subprojects:
  • Industrial Community: A dedicated space for industrial development,
    fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Non-industrial Community: A zone that encourages diversity and supports
industries beyond the traditional energy sector.
  • Logistics Zone: Facilitating the efficient movement of goods, this zone
includes a dry port handling an impressive 8 million metric tons of freight
    annually.

Impressive Figures Highlighting Progress
As SPARK progresses, key figures underscore its impact:

  • Project Area: Spanning 50 km2, SPARK is a vast and dynamic space for
    innovation and growth.
  • Employment Opportunities: SPARK is set to create 100,000 direct and
indirect jobs by 2035, contributing significantly to the region’s economic
    development.
  • GDP Contribution: Anticipating an annual contribution of $6 billion to the
GDP by 2035, SPARK is poised to become a driving force in the economic
    landscape.
